Dragonflies

Dragonflies are a group of insects that belong to the order Odonata which also includes the damselflies. Dragonflies differ from damselflies in that they usually have more robust bodies and most do not fold their wings along their body when they land. Dragonfly nymphs (young) and the adults are carnivorous and feed on other insects. They live near and breed in a variety of freshwater habitats.

I am by no means an insect expert so the dragonlflies will appear in this page by their primary colour to make them easier to identify for fellow amateurs like me. I will add photos as I get them so this page will continue to expand over time.
